-      The Saskatchewan Rough Riders were founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club. At first, they wanted to turn the club into a rowing team but later decided to turn it into a football club.

-   They renamed the organization the Saskatchewan Rough Riders in 1924.

-    The Riders have had 4 color changes in their franchise history. The original Rider colors were purple and gold. In the 2nd season, the Riders changed their colors to blue and white. The 3rd color change in 1912 was black and red which they kept for the next 36 years. In 1948 it changed to the familiar green and white.

-  The teams first game was against Moose Jaw. They lost 7-6.

-   In 1948 the Riders became a provincially operated and owned club.

-      In 1956, on the way home from a CFL All Star Game, Rider players Gordon Sturtidge, Mel Beckett, Ray Syrnyk, and Mario DeMarco were killed in a plane crash. Their jersey numbers were later retired.

-There are 8 jersey numbers retired in the SK Rough Riders. They belong to George Reed, Ron Lancaster, Dave Ridgway, Roger Aldag, and the mentioned above.

-   The Riders were the first team to qualify for the Grey Cup for  5 straight seasons, 4 under the guidance of head coach Al Ritchie.

-The Riders won more games during 1967-1976 than any other football club in the world.

-   They have won the Grey Cup only three times, in 1966, 1989, and 2007 even though they have been in the final 16 times.
